Protecting platypuses in the Bacchus Marsh area

Welcome to
Bacchus Marsh Platypus Alliance

Did you know we have platypuses living in Bacchus Marsh?

These special monotremes live right in town, in the Werribee River (e.g. Peppertree Park).

They sometimes swim in the Lerderderg River as well.

Bacchus Marsh Platypus Alliance Inc. (BMPA) is a non-profit, volunteer community association which aims to protect, advocate for and raise awareness of platypus in the

waterways of Bacchus Marsh and surrounds.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri and Wadawurrung people as the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters on which we volunteer, and pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
